Favourite Healthy Treats

Favourite Healthy Treats

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well! It’s already a week since I’ve been back from Italy and I’m still trying to adjust from the 26 degrees sunshine back to the temperamental British Spring. As you can imagine while I was over there, apart from plenty of Vitamin D, I also indulged in loads of hearty carbs and delicious Italian gelato! I enjoyed every minute of it but as I have a beach holiday coming up I decided to be more careful with my food and exercise. If you know me you know that I love snacking and I have the world’s biggest sweet tooth! Which is of course my biggest struggle when I’m trying to shed a few pounds. I love a little afternoon treat with my coffee or something to munch on while I’m watching my favourite TV series. So instead of banning them altogether, I decided to be more mindful of my snacking and choose healthy treats that combine pleasure with high nutritional value. These are some of my favourite healthy treats:

Fibre One Squares

Fibre One Squares

These little squares offer the most delicious way to up my fibre intake while satisfying my sugar cravings! With only 87kcal per square they are practically guilt-free and give 5 grams of fibre per serving. They are available in 4 flavours: chocolate fudge brownies, salted caramel, lemon drizzle and cinnamon drizzle. My favourite flavours are the salted caramel and the chocolate fudge brownies which are even more delicious when warmed up in the microwave for 40-50 secs. You can thank me later!

Metcalfe’s Skinny Popcorn Mini Bags

The only thing that I can accept as compensation for the fact that Nutella is a calorie-bomb, is the fact that popcorn is the epitome of healthy treats; a good source of fibre, antioxidants and B Vitamins. One of my favourite brands is Metcalfe’s popcorn which is available in four flavours: Sweet ‘n Salt, Sea Salt, Cinema Sweet and Salted Caramel. I still haven’t tried the Salted Caramel but something tells me I’m going to love it! I usually buy the Variety Multipacks which contain 6 bags of 17g each. A mini bag of 17g goes a long way and it has less than 60 kcal! Perfect for movie nights.

Deliciously Ella Almond and Blueberry Protein Ball

Deliciously Ella Almond and Blueberry Protein Ball

I love all the Deliciously Ella energy balls-the cacao and almond flavour is simply amazing! Hence, I was very excited to try the equally delicious Almond & Blueberry Protein Ball as since starting tracking my macros I am always looking for snacks that are rich in protein. This energy ball contains 8g of plant protein and it’s gluten, dairy and refined sugar free. I love it with a cup of tea or after my workout.

Nature Valley Protein Bar

Nature Valley Protein Bar

Another one of my favourite protein-rich healthy treats. A 40g bar contains 10g of protein and less than 200 kcal and it’s gluten free. It’s my go-to solution when I have to leave the house in a rush without having breakfast. It is available in 3 flavours: Peanut & Chocolate (my absolute favourite), Salted Caramel Nut and Coconut & Almond.

The only challenge with all these healthy treats is being careful not to get fooled by their health benefits and overindulge as they are all so delicious! I use My Fitness Pal to log them in and track my calories and macros in order to stay in balance.

Which are your favourite treats? Please share as I’m always on the lookout for new things to try!

Love,

Eleni xx

Popcorn is a lush snack. I like the Aldi sweet and salted one. It’s lush and so cheap! Katie

Finding healthier alternatives is so hard especially when we are surrounded by junk food! I love Metcalfe’s skinny popcorn too x

We love skinny popcorn in my house! We also love icecream made with bananas, granola bars, fat free yoghurt with frozen fruit and sweet potato brownies!
