Since I turned 30 (and after some very rude fine lines appeared on my face that hadn’t been there before!) I have been focusing more and more on the quality of my skincare. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always used a hydrating cream, cleansed my face and done a scrub every now and then. However, I was just going for the solution whose scent, texture and packaging seemed the most appealing to me just making sure to throw an SPF in the mix. Now though, I read ALL the reviews before buying any new skincare products and I want to know all the ingredients in it that will make my skin look and feel better. I have also added more steps to my routine and the more I read and the more I feel I need to add!
Clarins is one of my favourite skincare brands and one that I really trust. They won my heart with their Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer and I’ve happily used many of the brand’s products ever since. When I recently repurchased the Body Fit toning gel (please don’t judge, a girl can only hope!) the lovely beautician offered to give me a free facial. And as I had some Clarins products already in my wishlist I sat back and enjoyed… And this is what I came home with:
Multi-Active Night Cream
The texture was what impressed me with this night cream on first trial. It feels deeply nourishing yet fresh and non-sticky-a problem I often have with other night creams. It contains golden poppy and organic teasel extracts which work to revitalise and protect the skin to reduce signs of lack of sleep. My skin feels soft and comforted as soon as I put it on. It gets absorbed very quickly and its scent is calming and beautiful. Since using it I have noticed that my skin when I wake up in the morning is supple and more radiant.
Double Serum
Or the big guns! I’ve been looking for an anti-aging serum for a while (remember those fine lines I mentioned before?) and I wanted something effective, easy to use and relatively affordable. Reading through all the reviews I had my eyes on the Double Serum and when I used a sample of the product I fell in love! This serum contains 21 active plant extracts including turmeric, which is well known for its anti-ageing properties and it uses a hydrolipidic and biomimetic double formula to stimulate the five vital functions: hydration, nutrition, oxygenation, regeneration and protection. And it actually works! The fine lines especially around my mouth are much smoother and my face looks brighter and relaxed. It is also great for break outs as it’s drying them out and helping them disappear. I use it every night before applying my night cream but I have read that it makes makeup last longer so I will have to try it. To me, it’s totally worth the hype.
Multi-Active Day Cream
As I spent a certain amount of my pennies on the first 2 products, I got as a gift a beautiful flamingo patterned beach bag and had the option to choose three more travel size products. So I went for the Multi-Active Day Cream, the Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser and the Exfoliating Body Scrub (I will be reviewing the last one on a different post on my favourite Clarins body skincare solutions). I love using the day cream. It contains Myrothamnus extract that smooths fine lines, it’s refreshing and hydrating, easily absorbed and smells great. It creates a very smooth base for my foundation too.
One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser with Orange Extract
First of all, I am head over heels with the scent of this product! And second of all I love its gentle formula as I find some exfoliators a bit too aggressive for my skin. It contains orange extract to soften and revive, Moringa Seed extract which has anti-pollution benefits and Silica Microbeads which work on clogged pores to exfoliate and free them. My skin is super soft after using this product and feels squeaky clean yet not dried out and tight. One of the best skincare products I have used.
Which Clarins products have you tried and love?

Ageing is a natural process. Way too many people worry about it!

It totally is, and a privilege too ☺️ But applying a cream for me is part of showing myself some love, taking two minutes to just relax and enjoy the scents and texture 🙂 And if that has any good effect on my skin it’s a plus 😉
Hey,
I have read your blog and it was very interesting.I will suggest it to my friends whoever is more keen towards fashion.
