Quarantine Survival Essentials

Quarantine Essentials

Hi guys,

What times we live in eh? Sometimes I feel like this is a movie I’d never go to watch! What is happening in the world is frightening and high stress levels are inevitable. However, I think this is the time to a) be sensible and responsible to one another and stay home b) try to boost as much as possible our positive vibes as it helps strengthen our immune system and the positive momentum helps towards a better future for everyone.

As most people in the world are currently in quarantine spending more time at home than they’ve ever spent in their lives, I thought I’d make a list of my favourite things that help my mood during this period.

I am someone that loves being outdoors and being surrounded by many people. My mum used to tease me when I was little that for me our home was like a sinking ship, I had to be out of it the soonest possible! I am surprised to see though how adaptable people are to new situations. Here are the things that have made this adaptation to the quarantine slightly easier for me.

Home Decor

Most people’s homes will now be the cleanest they have ever been that with most of us being in quarantine and having more free time to do house chores. As important as a clean house might be, for me the right atmosphere especially now is almost as important. So I have been putting colourful flowers in our vases and burning beautifully scented candles to help create a cozy, cheerful atmosphere.

I got the Champagne Toast Candle from Bath and Body Works from Singapore and I had put it aside to burn it after I have used some of my other candles. But now it’s out and it fills our living room with beautiful scents of berries, tangerines and champagne.

I have also put my mood boards at places around the house where I can see them all day long to give me a sense of hope for the future and help me visualise better times to come.

Books-Books-Books

I always said I wish I had more time to read books so there has never been a better time than now. I recently finished a book given to me by my friend Beverley called The first time I saw you by Emma Cooper. Beverley is a book blogger and has written a beautiful review of the book here . I loved the book which was sweet and funny and emotional and captivating so I totally recommend it. I also love the 7 sisters book series by Lucinda Riley and hopefully I will finish them all by the time it is safe for us again to be out and about.

Skincare

Spending more time at home means that I can now invest even more time in taking care of my skin and trying new skincare products. I will soon publish a blog post on my current skincare favourites but here are three things I have really enjoyed using these days.

skincare products

As I am not always putting make up whilst at home, I have loved using Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips to keep my lips moisturised but also to give them a nice rosy glossy look the days I am not wearing lipstick.

Another favourite is the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist which I have been using during the day as a revitalizing and uplifting spritz. It is infused with a nourishing blend of rose, sage and neroli and has purifying and hydrating properties. I love the little story behind its conception which was inspired by the Queen of Hungary Water, the world’s first recorded perfume, formulated for Queen Elizabeth of Hungary in the 14th century.

Of course I couldn’t leave out a hand cream as I seem to now have one in every room and every hand bag! With my hands falling apart from the constant washing and use of antibacterial gels, Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Hand Cream has been a real savior. Apart from its beautiful scent, this hand cream is enriched with antioxidant-rich, organic wild rosehip oil, with a balancing blend of organic geranium and patchouli essential oils. My hands feel softer and comforted almost instantly.

Movement

Keeping active during quarantine is also crucial for the immune system. Apart from a daily walk outdoors that we are allowed to take which I make sure to never miss, I have also been using my Tone it Up app as I love the variety of types of workout as well as the personalities of the trainers that keep you engaged and entertained.

I also love practicing yoga with Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube who has a huge library of different styles of yoga and for a variety of needs and purposes. Adrienne has a lovely personality that shines through the screen and positive vibes that help you instantly relax.

What have been your quarantine essentials? I am looking forward to your recommendations on more things I could try!

Stay safe!

Love,

Eleni xx
