Latest Skincare Favourites

Seeing as the quarantine doesn’t seem to be coming to an end any time soon, I have been keeping myself entertained and my skin happy by trying out new skincare products. I think I currently have the most time I have ever had to look after my skin and I am happy to report that many of the new products I recently tried have made it to my skincare favourites list.

Latest Skincare Favourites

Starting with cleansing, I have absolutely loved using the OSKIA Rennaissance Cleansing Gel. It has a beautiful texture that changes from gel to oil once you massage it into the skin and it melts away easily all makeup and impurities. It contains Vitamins A, C & E, Omega 6, Starflower Oil, Pumpkin Enzymes, Chamomile & Rose, a great combination of ingredients for anti-ageing, illuminating and soothing action. I love the way it leaves my skin, clean, fresh and glowing. You know I have a soft spot for nice scents, so this ticks that box too.

When it comes to moisturising, the Elemis iconic Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is one of my new skincare favourites that is here to stay. Its texture is deeply hydrating and comforting and leaves the skin quenched and soft. Some of its main active ingredients are Mediterranean algae, Padina Pavonica, blended with Ginkgo Biloba for free-radical protection and Rose and Mimosa Absolutes. My skin feels firmer after each application and the line on my forehead started looking softer after about 2 weeks of using the product. I will definitely be repurchasing it.

A product that has been my trusty partner during my quarantine daily walks which has also made it to my skincare favourites is the Fluide Protecteur SPF 50 from the French brand Phyt’s. This SPF has a light texture, but it initially misled me to think that it might be on the sticky side. I was very wrong! When massaged into the skin, the Vitamin E contained in its formula feels so nourishing, is not sticky at all and it actually creates a very nice base for foundation. The Ylang-Ylang and Lavender that are present in its formula also give it a beautiful scent.

We all know how powerful retinol is when it comes to anti-ageing but until recently I had avoided products with high concentration in retinol. This changed when I received a travel size of the Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Serum with a beauty box that I purchased. I was so impressed to see my face looking smoother right after the first night that I used it! And so I used it again the following night and then the following. And I could see my fine lines already looking smoother but then boom! My cheeks turned red and irritated and my skin started flaking. I work in skincare so I should have known better and eased myself into using it. In other words, it’s not them it’s me. After that unpleasant experience I stopped using the product for a while, until my skin calmed down. Now I much more sensibly use it 2-3 nights a week and topically on my problematic areas. This means that I still get the amazing results without aggravating my skin and I have also managed to make that travel size last for ages!

Having worked for the Parisian skincare brand Matis for over year now, I thought that although still able to appreciate the amazing skincare formulas, my excitement in trying their products would have plateaued by now. I am happy to report that this is far from the truth – which makes doing the Marketing for a brand you are truly excited about much-much easier! The latest product I have fallen in love with is the Reponse Delicate SensiBiotic Peel. Containing saffron flower that soothes the skin, its formula is grain-free and super gentle which makes it ideal for sensitive skins. My skin after its application was literally glowing and felt super soft and smooth. This peel is so gentle that it can even be used on the lips and the skin around the eyes.
