I know there are some real glam-mums out there, but for me looking good during the first months post partum wasn’t such an easy task. All my routines -skincare, make up, haircare -had been simplified to quick and easy versions that require minimum effort for maximum effect.
I have very thick hair and loads of it which means that styling it can be very time consuming. On the other hand, I am lucky to be able to wash it only once or twice a week without it looking greasy.
These days I have a simple but efficient haircare routine that gives me hair salon looking hair which takes half the time it used to take due to some new products I have been using:
1. Shampoo & Conditioner
I have blonde highlights on my hair which makes it quite dry. The Miracle Moist range from Aussie Hair is one of my favourites when it comes to shampoo and conditioning. The Macadamia nut oil in its formula leaves my hair soft and smooth and makes detangling it much easier. The products also have a sweet and fresh scent that I love.
2. Detangling
Apart from thick my hair is also wavy which makes detangling it both painful and time consuming. This step of my haircare routine has been improved by the use of my Tangle Teezer which makes the whole process faster and more pleasant. The brush is now available in some amazing colours which I want but I can’t find a good enough excuse to get as my brush is still working perfectly fine.

3. Priming
For this step, I am using one of the products from my 2021 Look Fantastic advent calendar, the Percy & Reed I Need a Hero! Wonder Balm Hair Primer. I apply a small amount of the balm to towel-dried hair and I LOVE the way it works with my hair protecting it from heat but also taking the frizz out and leaving it smooth and glossy. It’s one of the best hair products I’ve ever used.
4. Drying

This is the part of my haircare routine that has changed dramatically with the use of a new product that has made a big difference. Instead of a hair dryer I am now using the Revlon One-Step Volumiser Hot Brush and OMG what a game changer! I didn’t have very high expectations as it comes in a budget price compared to other brand alternatives (£49.79 on Amazon at the moment) but it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made in a while. In half the time, it dries and styles my hair leaving it looking neat and shiny. And as I said this is the ultimate goal at the moment, quick and efficient! If I m running out of time, this is the last step of my haircare routine. However, if I have another 5 minutes to spare I add…
5. Leave-in Treatment

Now let me put a disclaimer here that I am using the following product in an unorthodox way. The Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment is meant to be applied to damp hair before the use of blow dryers. However, I have found that applying the product after the hot brush and before using my straighteners perfects the end result and helps it last longer.
6. Straightening
This last step only takes 5 minutes to achieve salon-looking straightening results. I can’t say that this is because of the straighteners I am using. I’ve had my Babyliss straighteners for years and they’ve passed the test of time as they still work perfectly fine. There is nothing fancy about them though, when used on their own just with simply dried hair,
And the final result…

Eleni xx
